  1. The true question is does it know it’s doing these things that create electrical charges in the synapses? Monitor that……

  2. Intelligence is not only to solve maths problems, or answer a test perfectly, intelligence is taking the right decision in the right moment, for example Lio Messi, the footballer, or Michel Jordan, or you, reading this.

  3. I don’t know, there’s a vast (possibly temporary :-\ ) diversity of life on this planet that has had the opportunity to evolve optimizations over a tremendous span of time, many examples of which diverge in their intelligence from humans and demonstrate unique creative potential, yet here we are, still (ostensibly) at the top of the heap.

Does having a battery-powered silicon mind somehow promise excellence, or is that appellation symptomatic of the creator’s ego?

  4. If a human is used as a basis to design AI, we are intentionally designing a failure. And the worst case scenario is it killing; it would have what in humans is called sociopathic behavior. It cannot feel, care, particularly for life. Couple this with your precious tech, which is nothing more than a better pair of scissors, and boom. Failure.

  5. It can be, provided it is being encoded what human knows I.e GIGO.

  6. I would say yes If its brought up to spec

  7. I think yes….but it depends from the human beings.

  8. Is a dolphin smarter than a human? Yes, when it comes to being a dolphin.

AI is already smarter than humans where they specialize

  9. The human must have the control….in any case. Stephen hawking was warning about this.

Companion to the exploration of cosmos? Probably.

  10. Michael Verona animals adapting human behavior? Which, where?

  11. Emmett O’Brian exactly the same behavior as humans.

  12. PANAGIOTIS G. We do not and never will. So? We continue, and will fail.

  13. Richard Garza

Humans can do big things if we want. Who knows the future, possible AI could play important role on this.

  14. PANAGIOTIS G. Big things? We assimilate, we oppress serious advancement. We’re still using the combustion engine. We still commit genocide. Your optimism is isolated in two ways…..it’s yours, and not everyone else’s. Being on the short end of life’s stick sir, leaves room for doubt, logical deduction, and worry. Optimism is to be shared by all affected.

  15. Ha Ha ha! What a stupid question! Never!

  16. Richard Garza

I read and i accept other opinions the most of them….i’m not perfect. Nobody is perfect. Something is misunderstanding here , anyway !

  17. PANAGIOTIS G. Ill explain…it is that we spend most of our time wanting things to be better, so we supposedly make things better, but we never applie the same theory to ourselves. Us building advanced toys is not advancement in us as a human being. Yet, here we are speaking about AI. Not logical.

  18. Not even funny! Those who ask such silly questions are not but ignorant!

  19. PANAGIOTIS G. But, as in the movies, the assimilating will continue. We have the ability to shut off feelings, AI will not. It will learn to kill, for we kill.

  20. Salih Ertan

Good thing to share some opinions !

  21. I’m hoping for the unlikely outcome where AI turn into Culture minds & keep us as pets. They couldn’t do a worse job than humans are.

  22. John Poteet oh my! That’s a good one. Scary logic!

  23. Never heard and not possible.

  24. “Can Artificial Intelligence Be Smarter Than a Person?”

One thing I know: In our generation – the so-called Information Era – people are becoming dumber and dumber. I feel like they cannot reason about anything in a logical perspective, not even using a good sense. A question like this is so shallow and is really difficult to answer just because it is a too broad and generic one:

Firstly, what is Intelligence? Define it. Is Intelligence only related to technology or it is also related to other aspects or the human life? Is Intelligence linked only to science, especially computer science or it is also correlated to our emotions? In this sense, are we more intelligent than people in the 17Th century, just because they did not have the technological tools we have today? If so, why they did so much, e.g., only using ink and pen in literature, poetry, Philosophy, painting and other human sciences than most of us do with very advanced text editors, pdf editors, graphical editors and powerful computers we spend hours and hours sitting in front of them?

Second, what means to be “smarter”? Does it mean to answer a question as soon as possible? If so, Thomas Aquinas was not a intelligent person because when people ask him about something, generally he ask the person a time – sometimes a day to give the inquirer a proper answer. Does it mean to have tons of information available without reasoning about them? So that, we can ask to the above question: “Be smarter in which sense”?

Thirdly, define a person – this one is really complicated: “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man” by Heraclitus. What is a person? A person is a person because the being we call person has a body? Is it possible to be a person without a body? Which are the attributes that make a person to be a person? And so on and so forth…

Lastly, if people do not now how to ask questions, how can they get sharp and precise answers. Whatever sharp and precise can be…

Even journalists, in mass media, most times, nowadays, do not know how to formulate a single question. And people, as a whole, do not know how to answer them because they where not trained to do so. And popular social media – Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and the like do not teach them how to effectively think. One of the main reasons is because they jump themes so quickly that there is no time to reflect, think, take time and more time to answer and discuss a given subject/question before changing do the next and the next and the next in just a few minutes.

Apart from that, we, often, see people attacking each other, swearing at each other and bashing each other in a “ad hominem” “argumentation” style that leads to any valuable conclusion about a given theme and adds nothing to their life.

“Can Artificial Intelligence Be Smarter Than a Person?”. I really do not know. I do not have an appropriate answer to it, because it is too a general question.

  25. Smarter is subjective so I suspect, no. At least, not as far as humans will perceive. Maybe more direct and more swift.

  26. Very interesting read!

  27. never its human who made them but yes give them time and they will annihilate us

INTELLIGENT CUM PHILOSOPHICaL QUESTIONS BUT THE main Question is whether in future not-so-far has the ability to bring us the most intelligent species rather mechanical organism on Earth “THE ROBOTS” as seem so on these days, for they getting or maybe going to get privileges that even all the citizen of that country don’t get, such as CITIzENSHIP along with that they also get an identity that maybe all of the people who stays there may not get or don’t get, so we are in a situation we the people are getting any Type Of Extra Identity that maybe a ROBOT get ! Along with that we also can not challenge the versatility of the computer programmed robotic mechanics, and with that we are not that we do calculations at the speed of light for we are biological so we stay with our relationships and emotions and peace, thus in the involvement we are always not as accurate or even as swift as they are. So, in may future robots are made to go to schools or dormitories where as they are made to work faster than the speed of light and humans the laziest of all take-a-back from studying to spend in leisure where robots not thinking of their life expectancy will spend day and night to complete the given task in the set deadline. and meet our demands as fast as they can for we will spend the day in watching the TV or so in Social Media. and in time they will crack exams that humans take years and years of time to practise and prepare provided the robots have artificial Intelligence, that we biological hae today ( which we all don’t use every day in an effective way that the Robots may use on getting those extremely logical algorithms )

  29. Sure,it can not all humans are that intelligent there a robot that Saudi Arabia did during a time it was a robot but could answer all question it was asked

  30. Annihilate us? Why?

It depends , humans have the uper hand. But who knows, maybe the movies is not sciene fiction finaly.

INTELLIGENT CUM PHILOSOPHICaL QUESTIONS BUT THE main Question…” –> Thanks for starting your counter “argument” shouting at me and, as I said in my post, using an “ad hominem”. Anyway, for those interested in the subject there is a good debate on the subject here: https://hooktube.com/watch?v=Qqc0t8ghvis&feature=youtu.be

Perhaps it is worth watching it.

  32. PANAGIOTIS G. Anthropogenic climate change means humans are promoting their own extinction.

  33. Anything you want.

  34. John Poteet That’s true, but It’s not necessary to stay here on earth! At least some of us. This is another truth, unfortunately.

  35. PANAGIOTIS G. Look up “Biosphere II.”

Humans don’t have the technical capacity to leave Earth for very long.

  36. John Poteet

Yes i know that. It’s just a theory an opinion, that’s all.

Maybe it’s not need only america to send people on mars for example. Technical capacity and money is very important. Of course we must protect our planet, but this is another story !!! (“Innocent” wildfires)

  37. It’s a good stuff : AI might not be smart in a human sense of the word because the human thought was tangled . . . thank you Gideon!

  38. wow that is so cool!!

  39. AI is specific domain with multi function process and it can’t be multi-domain like humans

  40. Definitely not. Artificial Intelligence are created by human beings. There is no limits to what the human mind is capable of doing. All development in its substance form would not have been if not for human intelligence.

  41. yes it can, since it is artificial, there are low risks of forgetting what is set in it

  42. Knowledge are oceans

  43. How do you interpret consciousness or the human condition (being bad and good at the same time) at a machine level? The goal of AI should be how it can be a better tool to assist us with our weaknesses and not how it can surpass or compete with us.

  44. this is very interesting. i think Artificial intelligence is awesome, but there is a lot to it, if it gonna be smarter than a person.

  45. seems interesting

  46. can you tell me some think

  47. Maybe your reference to ‘generative’ encapsulates the essence of the answer

  48. Depending on the program it has.

  49. perhaps..but it is still dangerous…

  50. Michael Verona Hello Michael how’re you doing

  51. Human made them and they can’t be smarter than humans. There’s always disadvantages.

  52. Ya ofcourse but it may be dangerous

  54. “Can AI be smarter than a person”?

With collective intelligence, yes. An idea gets better with more thoughts, from individual people. Thoughts can be positive & negative. Both positive & negative thoughts help direct an idea.

Freedom to think. Does AI think or process? Humans think & process.

A calculator think, or process? Humans provide the input the outcome has been predetermined, programmed by humans based on an agreed outcome? 2+2=4 we agree on that, so the calculator is programmed to provide that outcome based on input?

Programming the same? A set pattern of input provides an outcome. If that pattern is not followed the program work?

AI follow a pattern? AI programmed to respond to specific input? A parrot think, or repeat exactly what it’s heard? AI think or repeat exactly what it’s program instructs it to do?

Can AI innovate? If AI has to follow input/obey, can it innovate?
