This is another big one. It’s an in-depth look at Google’s recent research into what they’re calling “Knowledge-Based Trust.”
In this piece, I do a fairly in-depth probe of what this research paper – and the research paper leading up to it last summer – actually say (and no, it wasn’t easy – these are tough, tough papers). I’ve tried my best to explain what I found in plain English. And no, this isn’t some kind of giant lie detector in the sky.
What it is is actually far more interesting, and deeply intertwined with Google’s efforts in artificial intelligence. I explain in this article that, even though the two papers seem to go out of their way not to talk about AI, this research is both made possible by machine learning techniques – and – is likely to contribute to Google’s long-term efforts to build some sort of artificial general intelligence. Yep, bear with me….
This is a longer article, but I hope you will find it worth the time. I think it’s an important topic.
