New application of AI that will come up with 3 automatically generated replies that you can choose from with mobile Gmail. It’s called “Smart Reply.”
This is more than just building out rules for common words that fall in an email. This is truly teaching a computer to understand the text of an email.
We have a feature in our car that allows you to receive text messages on your dash and then choose from a canned set of responses like “I’m running late.” or “Can’t talk now, I’m driving.” Our favorite thing to do with it is tell our boys “You’re the best!” 😉

Artificial Intelligence (AI) coming to your email
Later this week, Google will roll out the option to have it’s AI come up with an appropriate response to incoming emails. You can either use that response or edit it and send the reply.
“Later this week people who have the Inbox email program on their iPhones or Android devices will soon have a new option when it comes to replying to emails. Instead of coming up with their own responses on their mobile devices, they’ll get to choose between three options created by a neural network built by Google researchers. Google claims it has built an AI that can read incoming emails, understand them, and generate a short, appropriate response that the recipient can then edit or send with just a click.”
Could be a big time saver, and could also be the spawn of many a joke 😉 I’m interested to see how good it is!
