How “Mission-Driven AI” Is Revolutionizing Social Change
I’m super excited to have Stanford Social Innovation Review publish this piece by my co-author, Abhishek Gupta, and me. It’s a look at how machine learning is rolling out to nonprofits and social enterprises, affecting the way they operate as well as their impact in the world. Lots of examples of everything from suicide prevention, to college mentoring, fisheries stewardship and protecting forests.
Mission-driven AI is one of the key ways that we harness the amazing power of machine learning for something more important than optimizing social media streams. 🙂

Awesome thing Gideon Rosenblatt! Looking forward to that one.
Thanks, Teodora Petkova.
How positively enlightening. Thankyou Gideon Rosenblatt
Robert Sababady, thank you.
As usual, the only thing not profiting from AI is medicine. For a well-known reason, medicine is always at the stinking back-bottom of technology.
Wow, that was a great article! The need to draw talent is certainly an issue, however, the Open Source movement gives hope that free compute labor is out there. FreeCodeCamp might also be a resource for recruiting people wanting to learn about ML/AI while volunteering their knowledge to a good cause.
Glad to know about this source of good news stories. Kinda need that these days. 🙂
Thanks, Kiki Jewell. I’m glad you liked it. This really does remind me of the early days of Content Management Systems and Customer Relationship Management databases in nonprofits like in the early 2000’s. Finding the people to help is going to be critical.
Hey, I don’t know if you’re willing but it’d be great if you could post something the effect of your above comment in a comment in the article itself, as I bet that others are thinking about the same thing – and maybe even looking for ways to plug in and help.
Gideon Rosenblatt I rarely post comments on actual articles because they tend to require membership to avoid robots, but it’s a hassle – so I didn’t bother to try. I also don’t get to read the replies unless I also sign up for notifications. So overall I’d prefer to participate here.
Kiki Jewell, no problem. Happy to discuss wherever.
I don’t think anyone has been listening to me. I believe my logic code fits perfect to the Universe in application. AI should reflect Applied Information about the unified field. I have been working on this for over thirty years. My code is mathematically sound and seems to fit. Simplex instructions for the simple truth. If you dare to see the truth, you must ask for it.
I’m only willing to share discreetly and with assurances that it will be protected.
Dale Hampton so how do your formulas cope with relativity? Does it seem that my relative speed to you changes the rate of time and bends space, or do we have an absolute reference frame and only our internal clock changes when we change our absolute speed?
Timespace is warped interaction between two opposing forces. Relativity is only now in continuity. All elementary values are locked in. Prefixed values coincide with mass and the co efficient of the benchmark that is the speed of light at the moment. Expansion theory thru pi enables space to exponentially expand and recreate elementary values of inertial measurement relative to the source of the power. Gravity. That’s my best guess. How are you today?
